I do this greatly with a line and no ball. Have been doing this exercise a lot. The moment the ball is there I move forward during the shot in about 50% of the time and the ball, take no sand before the club hits the ball, which sails away. What is your suggestion to avoid lunging forward?
David–put the ball on the line and do the drill. You haven’t trained enough for the shot. Follow the training for fell and then use the ball on the back part of the line.
Hi Shawn,
I don’t understand why you described your third practice shot as “even better”.
From where I was standing it looked like it was quite forward of the line you drew.
Don’t we want to start the divot behind and end it after the line?
Michael

Michael–the third practice stroke was perfect–just slightly behind the ball.
