2009 has been a great year for SHGP Junior Golf.
This month: Scholarships, hole-in-one and more
We had two seniors graduate from our program that both received full college golf scholarships.
Shawn with Jeff Hageman (SHGP Elite Team Member)
Jeff earned a full scholarship to #1 ranked and 2009 NJCAA Men’s Golf National Champions McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. Year after year McLennan Community College is ranked in the top 3 junior college golf programs in the country. We congratulate Jeff on his success and look forward to seeing him at nationals in 2010.
Luke Thaker (SHGP Elite Team Member) earned a scholarship to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Luke had a very solid summer in 2008 that catapulted his junior ranking and earned him a place at Colorado State. There is nothing like playing Division I sports. We wish Luke all the best.
Alan Putnam (Select Team Member) has played golf for less than a year. He just played in his first golf tournament Monday, June 15th, at Bear Creek and brought home the 1st place trophy. Congrats to Alan…his hard work is paying off.
Travis Valdez (SHGP Select Team Member)
Travis made a hole-in-one this past week at the Starburst Junior Invitational in Waco, Texas. Congrats to Travis.
MINI-JUNIOR CAMPS Dates for this summer are July 27 – 30; August 10 – 13. Mini camps are one of the recruiting tools we use for our year-round training program and often transition the student’s progress right on through the year. Last year we invited 3 juniors from our mini-camps to join the SHGP year-round youth training. We are keeping our eyes out for some new recruits this year.
