Sean, I would recommend joing our Elite Golf Academy (EGA). It the only online training academy with a full 12 month curriculum in the world. It on my site.
Shawn…I liked the two-gate drill, but my favorite drill is the “Look at hole” putting drill. The more
I focus on the target… and not the ball… gives me the confidence to stroke the ball and not steer it…I feel like I am shooting foul shots with my eyes focused on the front rim!
I generally have no difficulty in reading the line of the putt. My problem is getting the weight right from about 20-25 ft. I am often 6-8ft short or 4-6ft long having just missed the hole by an inch or 2, resulting in an unacceptable number of 3 putts. What is the secret of lag putting so I am just left with tap-ins?
Dave–good to hear on your putting success. On distance putts. Their is no secret–you have to spend many hours training on long distance putts to develop the feel for the different distances. Feel is a developed and learned skill. If players don’t train for feel they never develop it. Its truly how you become a better putter. This leads to reduced 3-putts and shaves strokes.
SHAWN , I HAVE A PROBLEM CUTTING THE BALL GOING BACK AND I FIXED IT BY. LOOKING DOWN THE LINE IF IT CALLS A STRAIGHT PUTT, I PUT THE PUTTER EXACTLY BEHING THE BALL , I WALK UP TO THE BALL AND SQUARE MY SHOULDERS TO THE LINE OF THE PUTT, SINCE THE PUTTER IS BEHIND THE BALL, I PRACTICE A SWING TO MATCH THE DISTANCE , THEN I HEEL THE PUTTER BEHIND THE BALL AND THEN RAISE THE PUTTER BACK UP TO SQUARE GOING BACK AND GO AHEAD AND STROKE THE PUTT AND THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME . BY THE WAY I DO TAKE THE PUTTER STRAIGHT BACK AND THIS MAKES THE PUT AND SQUARE SHOULDERS IDEal to the hole. SOME PRO DEMONSTRATED THAT YEARS AGO AND THIS GIVES ME CONFIDENCE IN MAKING A GOOD PUT OR LAG PUT CLOSE TO THE HOLEL. TAKE CARE. THE OTHER VIDEO RE. SAND BUNKER PLAY, HERE IN THE SOUTH THE SAND TRAPS HAVE ABOUT 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SAND AND MOST OF THE TIME REALLY HARD . WOULD CHIPPING OUT BE BETTER YOUR METHOD .
Thad-thanks for the note. The key is to believe in your process so you can commit to the shot. As long as these two are aligned you increase the probability of consistency. As for the bunkers–give the chipping method a try. Just remember to add speed to the shot. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
I need to improve my short game.

Joe–its all about creating feel for the stroke and the distance of the putt.
